(Bowen Independent Wed 19th April)

If he cared to come on down for a look he would find that Bowens Family Friendly world famous nude beach is one of the cleanest, tidiest beaches on the Qld coast we naturists like to keep our environment clean and safe, it is regularly raked with all rubbish removed.

I strongly object to Cr Deluca thinking that nudist / naturalists only go there to expose themselves, the sign clearly states Nude Beach so if you want to go fishing, walking or bird watching you can and you are aware that people are close to nature at the section of beach, not exposing themselves as you so rudely stated! Just enjoying the freedom of no clothes (textile free)
I have been a regular visitor to nude beach from 1974 and so have all of our children from birth they now make up their own mind if they want to go or not.

We have personally introduced many naturalist families / visitors to Bowen from all over the planet including Holland, Croatia, Canada and from other nudist spots/clubs of Australia, we have made lots of friends who come up to Bowen annually just to enjoy Nude beach or as a stop over on their way north or south to other nudist friendly spots, Naturists do stay in caravan parks, hotels, motels and spend money in shops, buy food, go to markets, the movies and even buy the local newspaper….and fundraising calendar,

Being nude is fun, healthy and good for the soul. During the authors' years as Principal of the Brisbane College of Traditional Acupuncture and Natural Therapies in Australia, many experiments were conducted using highly sensitive equipment that could monitor and measure the flow of chi along the meridians. An acupuncture needle could be inserted into an acupuncture point to demonstrate the affect it has on the energy levels in other parts of the body along where that meridian flowed. For example, a needle inserted just below the knee at a point called stomach 36, would demonstrate an increased flow of energy along the whole stomach meridian running up the leg, through the stomach, up into the chest, and up to the eyes. Stimulating the needle can effectively help to balance, and heal, a stomach disorder (such as a stomach ulcer), or perhaps increase the energy flow to the eyes and improve vision. Some interesting experiments demonstrated the following:When a patient was naked and had the needle stimulated, there was a measurable flow of energy - we'll call it 100 units. If that person then wore nylon underpants while this experiment was being done, and the needle was being stimulated, the effective end result of the flow was a reduction of energy flow of up to 60%. Repetitive experiments demonstrated that if a patient wore nylon underwear while receiving acupuncture treatments, that patient would need twice as many treatments to get the same results. [Cotton underwear reduced the flow by 20%.]Clothing impedes wei chiPeople who can see wei chi notice that it doesn't flow through the clothing as well as it flows along bare skin. It tends to dip into the body rather than tackle the fibers, colors, synthetics and electrical charges of clothing. For example, if I look at a naked person clothed only in a pair of pants, I will see the wei chi above the surface of the skin disappear where the pants are, and then reappear where the pants end. This means that the area of the body where the pants are is not being protected by the wei chi anywhere near as powerfully. That makes that area of the body more vulnerable to negativity. This is important because, if the wei chi flow is being impeded in any way, it reduces our ability to respond to life, and to respond to the damaging things that happen in our life."The liver and the SoulWei chi has very strong metaphysical connections and implications. In natural (Chinese, Indian, Sharmanic etc.) medicine, if the wei chi needs to be strengthened, the organ that we have to treat is the liver and its associated energy systems. In metaphysics the liver is the organ associated with the soul. There are many interpretations of the soul. Simply put, the soul is the part of our body, or energy presence that helps us to process life and records the processes of our life. (Whether it be just this life, and/or past lives.) Medically, the liver is the central processor and chemical warehouse of the body. Most cultures relate to the old concepts of cutting out a man's liver to take his soul and various other similar stories. The soul processes life, sorts out our karma, and is constantly synthesizing all the events that are happening. It is also involved with the process of planning and making decisions. In Chinese medicine, each organ has a yin and a yang component. This is seen in other systems as well. (They just use different terms to denote the duality principle of yang - yin; male - female; positive - negative; expanding - contracting, hot - cold, etc..) The yang aspect of the soul is the wei chi that is found on the surface of the body. Our wei chi is not only there to protect us from life but it is also our first contact with the world around us. All the inputs coming from our environment, people and events make contact with the wei chi first. Although some of it penetrates directly into the body through the five senses, most of the input is processed by the wei chi. Healthy wei chi determines how well we can process and digest our life on a psychological, physical and energic level. This processing in the wei chi builds up during the day. When we go to bed at night a procedure occurs between 1am and 3am whereby the wei chi withdraws from the surface and travels internally to the liver and other major organs to synthesize and 'pass on' this processed information. (This time relates to the Chinese clock that demonstrates the internal concentrations of body energy according to the time of day.) That is why when we lie in bed at night (even on a warm night), our wei chi withdraws, and we feel more vulnerable, and often feel colder and need to cover up for protection. This also explains why shift workers who work through the night can often have many problems processing their lives and making plans and decisions. It also accounts for many of the negative effects of jet lag where the Chinese clock is disturbed, and the wei chi travels inside at the wrong times. Healthy wei chi means healthy processing of life. Earlier it was stated that wei chi is best treated through the liver. In a practical, clinical situation it is very difficult to obtain significant results in this way. What works in theory doesn't always work in practice.Denying our soulWei chi is most profoundly affected by the attitudes of each individual. This is what we talked about at the beginning of this article. When people are in denial of their body, when they are closing down their emotional and psychological body and need to hide behind a mask of clothing, they are also suppressing their wei chi. Their wei chi hardly extends above their skin. It is thin and very weak. As a result of that denial and shutting down of the body, they are also closing down the processing of life. Our ability to process and synthesize the events that are occurring in our life is heavily dependent on our healthy attitude to our body and our openness to allowing our body energies to be 'out there' to do that processing. When people expose themselves to the world, they are opening up their wei chi and opening up to the processing of life. When people who can see wei chi observe people undressing, they can see the wei chi expanding as they undress.

"It is well known that there is a very strong flow of energy through the body, that the body is made up of energy of many forms and frequencies. The slower frequencies are the physical energy of the muscles, bones, tissues, etc. As those frequencies get higher they pass through the spectrum of blood, lymph, nerve impulses, energy channels, chakras, auras, etc.AcupunctureChi (Qi) is the name given to the specific energy frequencies that run along 'meridians' (pathways) in the body. This energy is utilized by acupuncturists and other health therapies to influence their patients. The chi flow is a very important component of body function. A healthy flow of chi promotes a healthy nervous system, blood vessels, lymph drainage, etc.[...]

Wei Chi (protective energy)Extending on our concept of energy in the body, we can now look at one of the high frequency energies. The wei chi is a superficial energy that runs over the surface of the body just inside, and above, the skin. Some people can see it in certain light as a etheric whitish glow that can extend perhaps half an inch out from the body. (This should not be confused with the human aura that is an even higher frequency and extends much further.) It is classically referred to as our protective energy although, as we will see later, it has more far reaching effects. It is really a mixture of frequencies, each controlling different aspects of protection - physical, climatic, emotional, psychic, etc. One can have strong physical wei chi but weak emotional wei chi. When we are injured, the wei chi is the first energy to arrive in force and plan our defense and repair. It encourages the flow of meridian energy, nerve impulses and, eventually, the biochemical agents necessary for repair.A person who has low or weak physical wei chi bruises or cuts easily. Whereas a person with strong wei chi, such as a top athlete, tends not to bruise and cut as easily. Martial artists develop the art of strengthening wei chi so they can take powerful blows or deflect sharp objects and not damage their skin.Wei chi protects us from our environment. A person with strong wei chi can withstand sudden changes in climate and temperature. A person with weak wei chi suffers from sudden climatic change even to the point of serious health problems.Part of our environment includes the bombardment from energy fields around us. This includes negative energies from electrical appliances, power lines, radiation and numerous other man-made hazards. We can also be attacked by the negative output of people who are very emotional. Emotions are energy frequencies that, when experienced reactively and uncontrolled, can affect all the people around the emotionally charged person.Wei chi depends on its ability to flow smoothly through the skin and over the body in order to function optimally. As mentioned earlier, wei chi is not like the aura. It appears as a thin film or envelope of glowing energy around the body of a healthy person. In some people it is only just above the skin. In others, it can radiate from half an inch to an inch. (In extreme cases - three inches.)

Other Queensland Beaches

Queensland Beaches
Queensland Beaches in the northern part of Australia rank among the best in the world for virtually every possible condition. The large selection of beaches along the 7400km coastline covers all environments from exciting large surf beaches to relaxing calm water beaches. The water temperature is comfortable, the sun beams down all year-round, and facilities at Queensland Beaches are convenient and useful.
This website aims to provide details about individual beaches in Queensland and everything else you need to know about making a visit to the coastline, such as safety precautions, what clothing to wear and how to keep the tropical coastline clean.
Where is Queensland?
Queensland is located in the northeast corner of Australia, and is the country's second largest state. It covers an area of 1 722 000 km2, with a coastline stretching for 7400 kms. The capital is Brisbane, located in the southeastern corner of the state. The State is bounded by 4 waterways, all with their own characteristics:1. In the northwest, the Gulf of Carpentaria is a large body of water that shoulders the most sparsely populated part of Queensland. This area has very few beaches and is not renowned for it tourist potential. However, this region is very beautiful as an outback location.2. At the very tip of Queensland is the Torres Strait. This is a narrow channel filled with small islands. The islands in this area are stunningly beautiful and have remarkable beaches, but access is difficult. Tourist access to this part of the country is limited.3. Stretching from Cooktown to Mackay is the Coral Sea. This is the tropical zone where the water is very warm and calm on most days. Naturists and nude sunbathers tend to congregate at the southern end of the beach.
Barrier Reef Sun Club refer to Buchans Point, in between Ellis Beach and Palm Cove as Cairns Beaches unoffical nude beach. Buchans Point is a small, protected beach which is popular with locals and tourists, having been an unofficial free beach since the 1950's.
Buchans Point is located at the very southern end of Ellis Beach, about 25km north of Cairns. It is by far the most popular unofficial clothes optional beach in this area and has been recognised as such for many years. As you travel north along the Cook Highway look for the carpark on the beach side of the road between Palm Cove and Ellis Beach. It is then just a short walk south to the beautiful sandy beach backed by cliffs and the highway.
Pretty Beach is located 1km north of the Rex Lookout, on the highway south of Oak Beach. It is visible from the road at the southern end where access is gained. Cape Tribulation. This beautiful rainforest area is probably the end of the road for most tourists, as from here through to the top of Cape York is not exactly Sunday driving, but rather an experience in itself. From Cairns travel north for about 76km to Mossman then another 37km to Daintree. Cross the Daintree River by ferry and continue along this road for another 50kms to Cape Tribulation. The road passable to conventional vehicles except after heavy rains, which of course occur fairly often. You are much better off travelling in a 4WD vehicle. There are many beautiful views and interesting things to visit along the way.
The first turn off to the right will take you into Cape Kimberley, a rather remote but beautiful bay with few people, a casual atmosphere, and lots of secluded spots. There is plenty of room for camping and a few cabins for hire.
As you proceed north form here be sure to call in to the Rainforest Information Centre and enjoy the boardwalk through the forest.
Next stop is Cow Bay. The area is very popular with backpackers and, as many of these come from Europe where naturist beaches is commonplace, it is not unusual to come across topless and nude bathers in this area. However the most accepted nude bathing area is the third bay as you walk north along the beach.
At the Cape Tribulation you can experience isolated camping where the rain forest meets the sea. There are few facilities and all your supplies need to be brought in with you. Clothes in this camping area are unofficial optional.
Off the coast of Townsville is Magnetic Island, and many nuditsts report Balding Bay Beach on Magnetic Island as their favourite nude beach in the world!
The Balding Bay Beach is very secluded, only being accessible by boat, or by a 45 minute hike through National Park. There are long granite outcroppings which raptors seem to enjoy, and the beach is wide, with gorgeous white sand. A campground for backpackers is nearby, and other nudists park their boats regularly here to enjoy the sun.

Murray Falls Nth Queensland

Murray Falls is 30 minutes drive south of Tully. There is access to swimming holes, rainforest walks and viewing platforms above and below the 20m falls. It's well worth the walk to the top platform for great views across the valley. This area gets a lot of rain so the most noticeable feature of the area is the dense, green vegetation. You can camp here and use it as a starting point for other day trips.

Bowens Nudist Beach Queensland Australia

Bowen is on a peninsula, with ocean on three sides. This gives eight beaches surrounding the town, namely Kings Beach, Queens Beach, Horseshoe Bay, Murray’s Bay, Greys Bay, Rose Bay, and the Front Beach. There is also the clothing-optional nudist beach at Cape Edgecumbe which is well signed on the Coral Bay walking track situated between Greys Bay and Horseshoe Bay.
These are all very different in character. Kings Beach and Queens Beach are very long beaches, so long that if you stand on one end of Queens Beach the other end is over the horizon. Kings Beach has a magnificent view of nearby Gloucester Island, and is so pristine that if you go there, you're likely to be the only people you see there. Horseshoe Bay is a magnificent beach with the whole coconut tree tropical paradise ambience. Murrays Bay is even more of a coconut tree paradise, if you can find it. It is lying onits side on the bottom but may have stood up a bit," he said.

Where does one look when al is laid before

Can you believe this story written by Mary Vernon in the Townsville Bulletin 17/9/05 unbelievable

Where does one look when all is laid bare?SRING has sprung, and the perennial summer debate has riz ... should we have legal nude beaches in Queensland? We are the only state without any, despite the fact that we are the Sunshine State, although we have any number of unofficial nude beaches. But now the Burnett Shire council, down near Bundaberg, is preparing to take a proposal to the State Government to have the first legal nude beach in Queensland. They're obviously hoping to make a splash with it, but I dunno.
I don't particularly care one way or another whether people have clothes on or not, but aesthetically it has to be said that most people who are not Elle McPherson or Hoff actually present a more attractive sight with at least a few clothes on.
FOR those of us with slightly less than perfect bodies - only slightly less, you understand - a bit of concealment can go a long way. A bit of coverage of the flabby bits, a bit of a hoist here and a bit of compression there can make a world of difference.
And have you noticed that those who patronise Queensland's (unofficial) nudist beaches never seem to be the beautiful people? You never see an Elle lookalike strolling naked along the sand ... all the girls who look like that are clothed in simple little designer sundresses on the flybridges of million dollar yachts. Or strutting the catwalks of Paris, New York and Milan without ever having a single frisson of desire to prematurely age their perfect skin by stripping off in the harsh tropical sun.
ON the (unofficial) nudist beach there are dozens of people who have obviously been sunbaking naked for far too long despite the illegality of it. Most of them look like nothing more than very dark, wrinkled walnuts stumping around assertively, dangly bits swinging around in the breeze, and they glare fiercely at those of us daring to be on the beach with togs on.
Sometimes they even bail you up, demanding to know why it is that you are daring to be clothed instead of baring your all to the sun's health-giving rays.
SUCH an attack is usually the start of a long lecture on naturism, which is the polite name for those who prefer to go unclad, and all its myriad benefits and the shortsightedness of the Queensland Government for not allowing such a beneficial pursuit to be followed on its beaches. The problem with listening to this long lecture, with its accompanying swinging of arms and bravura gesturing for emphasis is exactly where to look. All the gesturing creates a lot of movement of parts which you are not normally accustomed to seeing and it's difficult not to stare. You end up either determinedly keeping your eyes firmly fixed on the walnut's face, which is disconcerting in itself, or lower them like a blushing 18th century maiden to the tips of your toes, sneaking a brief glance up through your eyelashes like Princess Diana in her younger days.
THE only way to stop the tirade ends up being to apologise and take your unacceptably clad body and your inhibitions away to some other, more tolerant and less disconcerting part of the beach.
But, sometimes, it works the other way. A couple of years ago I was down on the beach at Rocky Bay on Magnetic Island, a beach with a long and illustrious history of being used by those who like to sunbathe nude. On this day, despite the perfect weather, my friend and I, both in our togs, were the only people there, as often is the case on Magnetic Island beaches. Then, down through the bush path from the road came another person, fully clothed, with a beach bag.
WE watched him climbing down and noticed he was an extremely short man, of Mediterranean appearance, who seemed to be having trouble with the descent.
We withdrew to the other end of the beach, but it was impossible to ignore him as he went about his preparations.
From his capacious bag he produced a large straw mat and a folding backrest which he meticulously laid out, then a thermos, several pieces of fruit and a fruit knife were placed attractively on a towel. With a flourish he removed his shirt, then his shoes and socks, then all the rest of his clothes, revealing that his small, but perfectly formed, person was completely covered in thick black hair.
AFTER a few bends and stretches, he produced a bottle of suntan oil from his bag and began to smooth it all over himself, flattening his pelt into a glistening mass. When he was greased to his satisfaction, he put the oil back in the bag and jogged the length of the beach and back (a very short distance) ignoring our poorly muffled hysteria from the rocks at one end. A few more stretches and he laid himself ceremonially on the straw mat, picked up an apple and began to peel it.
At that moment, a raucous shrieking was heard from up the hill and much crashing in the undergrowth. Rocketing out of the bushes came about 40 eight-year-olds, the whole of Grade 3, Magnetic Island State School, on an excursion. Shouting with glee, they surrounded our Adonis, pointing and laughing and making ribald remarks.
It was kind of sad, after all that preparation, to see him scrambling into his clothes and taking off up the hill with the laughter of children echoing in his ears.

4 Strange people

My responce to Mary Vernon's story in About Town Sat 17th. Townsville Bulletin

`Where does one look when all is laid bare?' is inherently biased and offensive.

Its okay nerds are people too
Yes spring has sprung and the debate for legal nude beaches has not just reoccurred it continually goes on.

Whether you are an Elle look alike or just a person, a naturist enjoys nature for themselves not for the entertainment of others.

The person (nerd) who wrote this story should really go to the naturist’s clubs retreats or unofficial nude beaches and talk to the many people there. If you want conversation there’s plenty to talk about just like you were at a picnic or a family outing but if you bring up the debate issue you will get a debate.

People love what they do, try banning tennis, dancing or swimming the people who patronize these venues do it because they enjoy it not because someone is watching them or to be different.

There is a hell of a lot of families / naturists from all walks of life and of all ages out there enjoying themselves and in likeminded company. They don’t want to intrude on clothed areas so it is a natural assumption that legal nudist areas would be overwhelmingly welcome, the problem I see is most tourists believe that Qld’s unofficial nude beaches are legal

As for the walnut look if your silly enough to roast yourself so be it at least you’re all over roasted not with tanlines and patches.

You see people (Nerds and Naturists) like to sun bake, some are smart enough to cover up or find shade at the time of day that is bad for you this obviously is up to the individual.

As for the Maggie island episode children will be children understandably they would laugh especially when in a group. But really who do you think the nerd really is? The tourist naturist going to Rocky Bay one of Qld’s many unofficial nude beaches finding a secluded spot to enjoy his day. Or the one’s perving at him from behind rocks with (and I quote)
“Their poorly muffled hysteria from the rocks at one end”.
Legal nude beaches would save people who don’t want to be confronted with naturism and would give the naturist the confidence that they would not be invaded by school excursions.

It’s better to be nude than dressed to impress........... just ask me lol FRank

First test

Well this is our first attempt at posting tanks to wally, now well sea what happens lol
